Ethnological collection
The ethnological collection comprises the ethnographic culture of two areas: the Alpine regions of Carinthia, Pohorje and Kozjak and the Pannonian region with Dravsko polje, Slovenske gorice, Haloze and Prekmurje. The oldest objects (wooden chests, kitchen cupboards, fireplace equipment) originate from the 18th century and illustrate a rural way of life, accompanied by typical wall decorations (paintings on glass). Economic activity is represented through the collection of agricultural, forestry and carpenters’ tools and accessories. Among the household appliances, a wooden Miele washing machine from the 1920s and a refrigerator from the 1930s stand out.
