Collection of historical
musical instruments

The collection of musical instruments (18th–20th centuries) covers band instruments connected to the town’s music life (Maribor town guards’ drums), wind instruments, trumpets, string, fiddles and keyboard instruments. The most numerous instruments among those equipped with manufacturers’ badges were made by Vienna and Graz craftsmen, whilst some of them were made in Linz, Germany and France. The only instrument made by a local master Michael Poehm of Ptuj, is a treble flute from about 1800. The collection also includes a piano with hammers dating from 1792 and portable organs from the castle’s Loretto chapel.
